RWV is committed to raising women's voices in state and national debates over health care reform, so that women's perspectives about their health care needs and those of their families can be powerfully articulated, genuinely considered and incorporated into health care reform plans.
|
Raising Women's Voices is a national initiative to support quality, affordable health care for all. We are working to raise women's voices for the health care we need. Our goal is to engage a broad array of women's health advocates in local, state and national health reform discussions to ensure that women's concerns will be addressed and the health care we get will truly be health care for all.
The collaboration for RWV was launched by: • The Avery Institute for Social Change, a national, non-profit organization based in Boston, Massachusetts and led by Byllye Y. Avery, founder of the Black Women's Health Imperative. The Avery Institute brings together health activists, strategists, community advocates and scholars for constructive dialogue on health disparities and health care reform. • MergerWatch, an affiliate of Community Catalyst, that empowers communities to fight for patients' rights and access to care where they are threatened by religious/secular hospital mergers and religious and morally-based health care restrictions. • The National Women's Health Network, a member-supported nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C. that works to improve the health of all women by influencing health policy and supporting informed consumer decision-making.
