New Mexico:
The Southwest Women’s Law Center (an RWV advisory board member), and RWV’s New Mexico regional coordinator, the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice of New Mexico, will partner with the New Mexico Health Access Coalition to sponsor an event celebrating the first anniversary of the Affordable Care Act. RWV’s Eesha Pandit and Jasmine Jacobs will present "Young Adults: What's in Health Care Reform for You?" Baltimore HealthCare Access is hosting an event called “Getting the Facts: The Affordable Care Act and You” with guest Congressman Elijah Cummings. The event is co-sponsored by RWV’s Regional Coordinator, the Maryland Women’s Coalition for Universal Health Care and will take place from 12 - 4p.m. at Baltimore City Community College’s Physical Education Center located at 2901 Liberty Heights Avenue in Baltimore, MD. RWV’s Minnesota Regional Coordinator, NARAL MN, is partnering with Congressman Keith Ellison, who is hosting an event: “The Affordable Health Care Act: One Year Later.” It will be held at Sabathani Community Center in Minneapolis, MN. New York:
Press conference at NYS Capitol in Albany. RWV co-founder Lois Uttley will join other members of the steering committee of Health Care for All NY (HCFANY) at a press conference marking the first anniversary of the Affordable Care Act and urging the creation of a consumer-friendly state insurance exchange for New York. West Virginia:
Health reform advocates, including RWV’s regional coordinator, West Virginia Free, will join state and federal policy makers to celebrate the passage of the Affordable Care Act with banners and a big cake. The event will take place at the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department in Charleston at noon. Special guests include will include Senator Jay Rockefeller and Mary K. Wakefield, Ph.D., R.N. Wisconsin:
Join the Wisconsin Alliance for Women's Health as they team up with Citizen Action of Wisconsin at the State Capitol in Madison to celebrate the 1st birthday of the Affordable Care Act. There will be birthday cake and real 1-year-old babies to reflect both the age of health care reform and the need to nurture and protect it as it develops and matures! Hosted by the National Women’s Law Center, this webinar will feature special guests Melody Barnes, Domestic Policy Advisory to President Obama, and Jeanne Lambrew, Deputy Assistant to President Obama for Health Policy, who will discuss the provisions of the new health care law that have already gone into effect and those that will unfold in coming years. At 3 p.m. EST join Eleanor Hinton-Hoyt, RWV advisory board member and President of the Black Women’s Health Imperative, on BlogTalk’s Radio Show called Black Women’s Health Report. Eleanor will host the Honorable Donna Christensen (D-VR) in a discussion on how the Affordable Care Act has expanded health care for Black women, misconceptions regarding the new law, provisions that are threatened by repeal and what we can expect as we move forward to protect what we’ve gained.

Join the Black Women’s Health Imperative from 6 - 7:30 p.m. after the radio talk show, for a Happy Hour and Roundtable Discussion at the Offices of the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals, located at 1901 L Street, NW Suite 300. From 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. there will be a Roundtable Discussion on Raising Black Women’s Voices for ACA at which guests will reflect on the gains made and how black women can join in coalitions as we move forward to protect women’s reproductive rights.

At this event, MI LOLA and RJA representatives will discuss the benefits of the Affordable Care Act and the current status of ACA implementation in Florida.
